I don't remember the rolls with jelly, but I do remember Tiger Burgers, rectangular pizza (yum), and veggie sticks. Who remembers veggie sticks?! Yummy!
Amy-I don't really remember that name. Maybe slightly. I hope someone can find their class pic from 1st grade with me in it. This is going to drive me crazy trying to remember.
Julie, I called a number today that sounded like it might be Mrs. Myers, but I haven't heard back yet. I thought Mrs. McLeroy would have her number but she didn't. She gave me the only info I have to go on though. As soon as I find something out I will let you know. I am kinda on a mission now to find her. I would like to rekindle old ties too. Later dudes.

Wow, Stephanie, thanks for the old Cardinals pic. That is funny. Is that Tracy Killingsworth in the back row? I don't remember Tracy playing ball with us, (sorry Tracy). And it's coach "A" and coach "B"! I don't remember what year it was, but there was one year that we were really bad and came in last place and we came up with the cheer - "we're #4, we can't be #1, because we can't play softball!!" hahaha What about the tournament we went to I believe in Ft. Worth and on the way back we ate at Mario's or Mazzio's Pizza (some pizza place anyway) and had a food fight and got kicked out and asked never to return?! How fun was that!! Great memories!! :D

Oh, btw Angie, I remember the tiger burgers and rectangle pizza and also the veggie sticks, although I probably just peeled the breading off to eat and left the veggies, just like I do fried okra! (hmmm, and I blamed having kids for my weight gain!) ;/ hahahahaha

Julie--I HAVE IT! I HAVE IT! I HAVE IT! HAVE IT! HAVE IT! I got a call back today, and I'll be John Brown if it wasn't Mrs. Myers! She was so excited to hear from me! It was GREAT! We talked about 25 minutes or so and it was wonderful. She said she thinks about all of us a lot and misses us terribly. She said she would love to hear from all of us and know what has become of us. She said sometimes she has sat and thought about us and had a good cry. Her husband was killed about 6 years ago in an accident right after they retired. Andy now lives in New York and has been there about 4 yrs, and she is planning on going to see him up there this next spring. I told her about the dedication ceremony on Saturday the weekend of our reunion and she said she would love to see all of us and would try to make it. She wants us to keep her updated with date and time info. This will be so great! She said I could pass out her email and snail mail, so here it is:

Drop her a line anyone! I know she would absolutely love it! Later dudes!

Bo-did my mom go to that pizza place with us(I think it was Mazzio's)? I would think she would have had to (not letting us go by ourselves, unless they ate at some place close by or something), but I can't imagine her letting us have a food fight, or Aunt Mazie if she was a coach then. Aunt Mazie would have had a fit! And my mom hates the smell of pizza, so I can't imagine her even going into a pizza place back then. I do remember the Mazzio's in DeSoto and going there a lot. We went one time after the play "The King and I" and Wally(my boyfriend at the time) was driving a bunch of us over and we had a wreck on the way. Just a fender bender, but I am still paranoid about someone not paying attention to the person in front of them and running into the back of them.

Does anyone in Mrs. Edwards kindergarten class remember her assistance name. I was looking at the pic on Julie Needham's profile and I remember her face, but not her name. Help me out, anyone?

You folks remember way too much stuff. The only two teachers I can remember is Valerie Downs' mom but I have no idea what grade she taught. I had Mrs. Cagle for second or third grade. Remember the "earth ball" we used to play with in gym class?

Hey guys-I figured out how to allow our teachers, etc. to view the site. If you have someone like Mrs. Myers (she's already contacted me) please let me know and I'll get them added so they can take a look at the site!

And here's the note from Mrs. Myers to everyone:

Dear "Kids,"
I know that I did not teach each of you in this class, but I wanted you to know that many of your teachers would dearly love to hear about you and what you are doing now.
Seldom do we have the opportunity to reconnect with our children from our teaching careers and this site is a blessing! I hope your other teachers can access your site and share the pride of your many successes. By the way,
I don't remember the Cow Paddy song. You'll have to remind me. I do remember the Frog joke. It was my trademark. Ha!
God bless all of you and yours!
Love in Christ,
Sandy Myers

Michelle--YOU ROCK!! I am so glad Mrs. Myers will be able to access our site. She is so excited about getting back in touch with so many of us. We never realize the impact we have on others, and how what we say and do, good or bad, can be a part of them for the rest of their lives. On that note, if there is anyone in our class that I in times past may have said something or done something to cause harm or pain in your life please forgive me. I have seen so many people hurt through watching local kids interact and my own kids at school, I am a big supporter of be kind to everyone and remember those who may feel left out. When we have get togethers for whatever reason, I am one that wants everyone invited and if they choose not to come, then I can't help that. I try and get everyone involved. Feeling like an outsider and not being invited to things can really leave someone with hurt feelings. Well, enough with the touchy feely stuff, although I am most sincere about all that, I hope everyone is off to a very fine 2009! If you are like me, I got to get my rear in gear and get rid of one of my backsides. I have got to get moving and shaking and start sticking with my resolutions. Good luck to all of you. LOVE TO ALL!!! The reunion is now 6 months away!!!! YIIPPPEEE!!! Angie

Happy New Year to everyone. I hope everyone's holiday was greatness. I am following up on Michelle's earlier message. Yep I am going to try this marriage thing one more time. I feel like I might actually be getting it right this time. The big day is August 1st and everyone will get to meet him at the reunion. Nothing like having 2 police in one house.

Take care!

Angie--I totally understand where you are coming from when you mentioned the interactions of your kids at school. I CRINGE when my daughter comes home upset because someone said something unkind to her at school. Of course my 1st instinct is to pinch the fire out of the perpetrator. Is it just me or are the kids of todays society way more ruthless than we ever thought about being? I am amazed about some of the things my daughter has told me that have happened at school. As a parent, your heart breaks when someone hurts your child.... Oh yeah, as a side note, I always remember you as being the peace maker on the playground. I can't imagine you being mean to anyone.

Thought I'd drop a line here. Hope everyone had a safe and wonderful holiday (if you celebrate that sort of thing - if not, hope you had a safe and wonderful end of the year).

WOW, 20 years has gone by in a flash. At least on this site I don't feel too old - because we're all the same age.

Reading the forums made me think of "The BOOM-BOOM room" in Pleasant Run. I don't remember who it was with, but I remember talking about how if we ever got sent there, we'd just make a break for it and run. Nothing like a couple of 5th graders on the run to Canada from some 'licks. :)

If I remember right, I had Mrs. Pruitt for 5th grade. For 4th, it was Mrs. D-something - my memory seems to have slipped there. (or as my mom likes to say "I've slept since then!"). And I was one of the one's who had Valerie's mom for 3rd grade.

Scott-I remember the "Boom Room" and I mentioned it several posts back, so you would probably have to go to previous pages to see it. But I remember how quiet it got any time anyone went there and the "OOOO's" and "OWWW's"
we all said when we heard the licks pop. OUCH!!

Mandy Harville (Allen)

We had a Broom Room at West Main too and I even had to go to it. Mrs. Fitzugh in the first grade sent me bacause I would not stop talking and asking a friend for a toy clock. I remember how horrible it was and then to top it off I got a spanking from my paretns for getting a spanking at school. OUCH. To say the least I never spoke in class again.

01/10/09 05:25 PM #89

Angela Arie (Conrad)

Mandy-that is why kids today have such problems with respect and everything else. We all got "whoopins" when we were kids and if we got in trouble at school we knew we were in for it when we got home. Now a days kids can't be touched and they are sooooooooooooooo disrespectful! If the school systems would go back to passing out licks with another teacher or two present like they used to, kids wouldn't behave so badly. I mean, we all had some trouble, but nothing like we see now. Disrespect, gun violence, immodesty, and the age at which children know and engage in sex is so CRAZY and SCARY. I fear for my kids future and what it will be like when they get older. I am glad we live in a small town, but I know that will change once they get into the county high school. Oh well, maybe the good Lord will bless our nation with some common sense and help get things back on track. Later guys.

Mandy I thought it was called the Broom Room w/ the nasty ol' Mop bucket! I went to West Main also and got licks from Mrs. Carter, she was mean. I was in 1st grade and it devistated me until this day. No one in school will ever spank my child! It made no sense to me then and still doesn't, just because someone else was looking at my paper I got the licks. It could of been in combination with talking but they never explained, just gave the licks! Glad to hear others from West Main.

Mandy Harville (Allen)

I am glad I was not the only one. However I think I was the only one in Mrs. Fitzughs class. I remember Mrs. Carter the was mean! I can't remember if I had her or not. Maybe I am blocking it out since it was so bad.
I do have to agree with Angie about spanking. There comes a time when it should be done. Maybe not in your case Elezebeth as it sounds like you were unjustly whooped but some of the kids today are sooo disrespectful and the teachers can't do anything and the reason the children are the way they are is because of the parents so you know their not going to do anything.
ON a lighter note...All you West Main people do you remember Mrs. Wagner. I loved her. I will never forget that year. Remember the bathtub that was filled with pillows that we could read in. Ms. Striplings beautiful jet black hair. What was the name of teacher who had long red hair, I think she taught 3rd grade too.
